Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi has been winning hearts across the globe. The web series is streaming on Netflix and netizens even trolled actress Sharmin Segal for playing the role of Alamzeb in the show. She has been criticized by many for her performance and everyone targeted Bhansali for casting his niece.

Recently, Heeramandi casting director Shruti Mahajan has opened up about her decision to cast Sharmin. Talking to India Today, Mahajan said that they cannot please everyone and she said that they will get all kinds of feedback and one should take it with a pinch of salt and move on.

Mahajan even said that one has to work on their craft and even said that one know what they have done and the hard work they have put in. She said that as for criticism, one must learn to take it in their stride. Mahajan said that she is not regreeting on casting Sharmin and said that it is a learning process. She even said that there is a process and one just gets better with time.

With Sharmin being Sanjay's niece, Mahajan said that casting is purely done based on the script and the director's vision. She said that they want only actors who can enhance the project. Heeramandi stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Fardeen Khan, among others.
