Armenia remains CSTO member: Source in Organization
ArmInfo. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is aware of Yerevan's decision to stop funding, but Armenia remains a member of the organization. A source in the CSTO told TASS.
"This not new, we have been aware [ of these kinds of developments]," the source said. But Armenia remains a member state of the CSTO."
Yesterday, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan confirmed that Armenia would not contribute to the CSTO's 2024 budget,. According to her, Yerevan will refrain from joining the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council of November 23, 2023 "On the CSTO budget for 2024." Armenia will also not participate in the financing of the Organization's activities provided for by this decision, while not objecting to the adoption of this decision in a limited format.
Earlier, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that the CSTO did not fulfill its obligations towards Armenia during the aggression by Azerbaijan in 2021 and 2022, in connection with which Yerevan froze its participation in the CSTO.
