WFP sees need to change format of assistance provided to Artsakh refugees
ArmInfo. Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia Vache Terteryan received the delegation of the World Food Program (WFP), headed by Nanna Skau, WFP Armenia representative.
According to the press service of the Ministry, Nanna Skau spoke about the implemented programs and existing problems, noting that if activities continue in Armenia, there is an opportunity for cooperation within the framework of other programs.
Speaking about the forcibly displaced citizens of Artsakh, she said that WFP conducted an analysis of obstacles to the social integration of the latter and an assessment of food security. Referring to the analysis, Skau stated that there is a need to move from status-based support to vulnerability-based support.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues of mutual interest.
In October 2023, France announced that it would send 1 million euros to the World Food Organization to respond to emergencies in Armenia.
The UN World Food Program is the world's largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to pave the way to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the effects of climate change.
