‘Linsanity’ lands in Brooklyn

Jeremy Lin was introduced as the point guard for the Brooklyn Nets, bringing the Palo Alto High graduate back to the area he captivated in his Linsanity era when he averaged 24 points, nine assists and four rebounds for the Knicks during a 10-game stretch in February 2012.

Lin is reuniting with coach Kenny Atkinson, the former Knicks assistant coach who helped develop Lin.

The Chicago Bulls signed guard Isaiah Canaan, who spent most of the past two seasons with Philadelphia.

The Phoenix Suns will play two regular-season “home” games in Mexico City this season — against the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 12 and the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 14.

The WNBA has fined the New York Liberty, Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever and their players for wearing black warm-up shirts in the wake of recent shootings by and against police officers.

Though the shirts were the Adidas brand — the official outfitter of the league — WNBA rules state that uniforms may not be altered in any way.

The memo came after Minnesota, New York and Dallas all wore shirts in remembrance of two men who were shot by police and the five Dallas police officers who were killed in an attack July 7.

Forward Brad Richards, 36, is retiring after 15 NHL seasons and two Stanley Cup championships — with the Tampa Bay Lightning (2004) and Chicago Blackhawks (2015).
