Giants lose 5th straight on 3-HR night for Boston’s Hanley Ramirez

The hitters finally awoke from their big sleep and nearly engineered an eight-run comeback Wednesday night before Hanley Ramirez hit his third home run to ensure an 11-7 Boston victory.

The tiny visiting clubhouse at Fenway Park was filled with happy words about fight and spirit after the Giants needed two innings to turn an 8-0 game into an 8-7 barn burner, but they still boarded a private midnight train to New York winless in the second half and owning their second five-game losing streak of the season.

No longer the team with the majors’ best record, the Giants have to hope that these five games were their second-half mulligan, and that they will hit it straight and long when Madison Bumgarner takes the ball for the first of three at Yankee Stadium on Friday night.

The Giants have surrendered 14 homers in the five losses, 11 by the starters in 241/3 innings that yielded a 7.77 ERA.

Matt Cain, in a dreadful return from a leg injury, allowed three homers in 21/3 innings.

Ramirez hit a pair of two-run homers against Cain, who also allowed a Travis Shaw solo shot.

When Ramirez hit his third two-run homer of the night against Suarez in the sixth, he pumped his fist rounding second base as the first Giants opponent since Houston’s Morgan Ensberg in 2005 with a three-homer game.

“We made a lot of mistakes and he took advantage of them,” manager Bruce Bochy said.

The Giants started their comeback with a five-run fourth against Drew Pomeranz in his Red Sox debut.

Mac Williamson hit a three-run homer to right-center and Brown a two-run homer over the Monster that would have landed on Lansdowne Street had an advertising sign not stopped it.
