A controversy is reported to have ensued in Delta state, following an alleged embarrassment of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa by the minister of defence, Brigadier General Monsur Mohammed Dan-Ali (Rtd).
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s delegates where barred by the minister for defence.
The rift reportedly began On Tuesday, January 19, when Governor Okowa, reportedly shunned a Federal Government (FG) delegation led by the Defence Minister.

The delegation which included: Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ete Ekwe Ibas, and other top military brass; were visiting scenes of the oil pipelines vandalization in the state.
In reprisal, another drama took place at the navy base in Warri. The FG delegation barred and disgraced the Delta state deputy governor, Kingsley Otuaro, secretary to the state government (SSG), Ovie Agas, director general, security matters to the governor, David Towne, and other government officials from joining the entourage of the delegation to the site.

The state delegates were said to have already been seated at the boat stationed for the inspection, when FG top officials swooped in and barred them from joining the entourage of the ministers.
Sources inform that the barring of the state delegation, was due to the failure of state government to conduct an on-site last week.
Sahara Reporters further reports that the reason for their absence was due to a relationship between these state officials and the prime suspect in the criminal case.
Meanwhile, the minister of interior, General Abdulrahman Dambazau, is expected to join the military forces in Delta state in a bid to beef up security and maintain peace in the region.
Following the tension that has been stirred by the last blast of oil pipelines in Delta state, Adams Oshiomhole, the governor of Edo state, has blamed the past administration led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the troubles within the region.
