iPhone Duo or Ultra - Apple's foldable smartphone name and price revealed online

Tengrinews.kz — Apple is preparing its biggest surprise in years. Today, September 9, the company is set to unveil its first-ever foldable smartphone at its keynote event. Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman has revealed fresh details regarding the gadget's design and its official retail pricing, citing MacRumors.
What will the foldable iPhone be called?
For a long time, insiders predicted the new device would be named the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold—names Gurman himself had previously mentioned.
However, in his latest report, the analyst claims that Cupertino has opted for a more concise name: iPhone Duo.
Storage capacity
According to the insider, the base model will come with 256GB of storage. Earlier leaks also suggested 512GB and 1TB versions.
While Gurman's latest report doesn't explicitly name the higher-tier configurations, it appears these will define the top-tier price brackets.
Available colors
Don't expect vibrant or flashy colors in the first lineup; the gadget is being positioned as a premium, understated device.
According to the insider, the iPhone Duo will be released in just two variants: white and dark blue (a deep indigo shade instead of the traditional classic black).

The first concepts of the device have already appeared online, and insiders suggest the smartphone will be the first in Apple's history to support the proprietary Apple Pencil stylus.

Expected pricing
The first foldable iPhone certainly won't be budget-friendly. While TrendForce analysts predicted a range of $2,000 to $2,500, Mark Gurman has revealed Apple's actual price points:

256GB base model — starting at $2,000 (approx. 960,000 tenge);2TB top-tier variant — approximately $3,000 (nearly 1.4 million tenge!).

Release date
The foldable will not be available for purchase on the same day as the classic flagships.
While the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to hit shelves immediately after the announcement, Gurman reports that the iPhone Duo will not go on sale until October at the earliest.
As a reminder, the presentation begins in just a few hours. Officially, the event takes place on September 9 at 22:00 Astana time. It is expected that the event will showcase the iPhone 18 lineup, which will consist of only three models, including the foldable version.
