Three earthquakes occurred in the Zhambyl region within a week

Tengrinews.kz — Three earthquakes occurred in the Zhambyl region over the past week. The strongest had a magnitude of 4.5, which is felt as tremors of about 2 to 4 points in intensity, citing Almaty.tv.
In this regard, specialists assessed the condition of national highways. KazAvtoZhol employees inspected 14 transport interchanges, eight railway crossings, about 100 bridges and three elevated pedestrian crossings.
Following the inspection, no serious damage or dangerous defects were found. Traffic on national highways continues as usual.

“If cracks appear after an earthquake, specialists first determine their nature and establish whether they pose an emergency hazard. If the damage is deemed dangerous, the relevant services are notified in advance.
Necessary preventive measures are also taken to ensure road safety. After the three earthquakes, no dangerous cracks, damage or other defects were found,” said Birzhan Ashirov, head of a department at the regional branch of KazAvtoZhol JSC.
