Thousands of parents punished over their children in Kazakhstan

Almost 7,000 offenses in Kyzylorda region
To prevent offenses among minors, police, together with the akimat, regularly conduct operational and preventive measures called “Teenager,” “Teenager-2,” “Holidays,” “Children in the Night City,” as well as “Night City” and “Square” raids in Kyzylorda region. As a result, over six months, police identified 6,957 offenses.
A total of 155 teenagers engaged in vagrancy and begging were taken to juvenile adaptation centers.
“Parents were held accountable”
Parents of 4,635 minors who were in entertainment venues at night or outside the home without being accompanied by legal representatives were brought to administrative responsibility.
In addition, 174 owners and employees of entertainment venues that allowed minors to stay there at night were held accountable, as were 29 people who sold tobacco products to teenagers.
“By court decision, four parents who had evaded raising their children without valid reasons were deprived of parental rights. Another four parents had their parental rights restricted by the court,” the Interior Ministry said.
Currently, 75 minors and 89 disadvantaged families are on preventive records with internal affairs bodies in the region. Individual preventive work is being carried out with them.
Night raids in Shymkent
During another raid, police identified 164 cases of minors being on the streets at night without adult supervision in Shymkent. In all cases, the parents were brought to administrative responsibility.
In addition, 22 minors were found in entertainment venues. Not only their parents, but also the administrators of the establishments that allowed teenagers to stay there at night were held accountable.
Police urged parents to pay more attention to their children’s safety, know where they are and not leave minors unsupervised late at night.
