Air Astana extends suspension of flights to the Middle East until 6 March
Tengrinews.kz – The Air Astana Group of companies is suspending regular flights to Middle Eastern countries until 6 March inclusive.
This was announced on Monday, 2 March, by the airline’s press service.
It is also clarified that ticket sales are closed until 13 March inclusive.
“The airline continues to closely monitor the development of the situation and will promptly inform passengers about any further changes,” the press service added.
Earlier, on 28 February, Air Astana reported that it was suspending all flights to Middle Eastern destinations until 3 March. The decision was taken in accordance with a directive from the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan imposing a total ban on flights to Middle Eastern countries.
The Civil Aviation Committee explained that the ban applies to flights over, within and in the vicinity of the airspace of Iran, Israel, Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon, and will remain in force until further notice. It covers all flights operated by Kazakh airlines — regular and charter, passenger, cargo and technical.
