Tokayev announces Kazakhstan’s readiness to join Gaza’s reconstruction
Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that Kazakhstan is ready to join efforts to stabilize and rebuild Gaza, citing the press service of Akorda.
The Head of State made this statement at the first meeting of the Peace Council, which took place in Washington.
“Kazakhstan is interested in participating in reconstruction and development processes through international companies with a proven business reputation and a high level of competence. This program may include the construction of infrastructure, housing, schools, hospitals and other important social facilities. Our country, being one of the world’s largest wheat producers, is ready to provide humanitarian assistance in order to ensure food security in Gaza and beyond,” Tokayev stated.
The President also announced Kazakhstan’s plans to allocate more than 500 educational grants to Palestinian students for studying at our universities over the next five years.
“We could also share our internationally recognized experience in the field of e-government and other digital solutions. Kazakhstan is ready to support the International Stabilization Forces by sending medical units with a field hospital, as well as observers to the Civil-Military Coordination Center,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The participants were presented with plans for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, including issues of infrastructure development, security, and international financing.
Senior Executive Council member Jared Kushner briefed those present on the master plan for the development of Gaza, noting that it should become a modern space with favorable conditions for the population’s life and for sustainable socio-economic development.
At the high-level event, members of the executive bodies of the Peace Council delivered reports.
World Bank President Ajay Banga emphasized that the Peace Council’s financial mechanisms will be based on the principles of full transparency and targeted allocation of funds.
Head of the International Stabilization Forces General Jasper Jeffers spoke about measures aimed at ensuring security and maintaining stability in Gaza.
Head of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza Ali Shaat presented approaches to coordinating reconstruction efforts and interacting with international partners.
Earlier in his speech, Tokayev expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for holding this historic event. He stated that “the world has not yet seen such initiatives.”
