Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed cooperation with Tashkent in the field of extraction and processing of rare earth metals, Akorda reports.

Tokayev suggested that the working group being created in this area thoroughly study all aspects and submit proposals for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation.

Speaking at the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, Tokayev emphasized that expanding cooperation in the transit and transport sector is of strategic importance.

The President noted that measures are being taken to optimize tariffs, simplify administrative procedures, actively develop border infrastructure, and modernize border checkpoints.

The Head of State believes that governments should continue creating favorable conditions for all participants in logistics chains by addressing infrastructure, regulatory, and institutional issues.

He also stressed the importance of continuing effective cooperation in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), the North–South corridor, and railway routes through Afghanistan.

Tokayev invited the Uzbek side to partnership in the ports of Aktau and Kuryk for joint development of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor and implementation of logistics projects.

According to the President of Kazakhstan, constructive cooperation in the water and energy sector is especially relevant given that the rational use of water resources of transboundary rivers is becoming one of the key factors for the prosperity and sustainable progress of both countries.
