Tragic accident in Aktobe Region: Interior Ministry issues statement

Tengrinews.kz – The Interior Minister has taken personal control of the investigation into the deadly road accident in the Aktobe Region.
A criminal case has been opened following the major traffic accident, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.
On October 23, a DAF truck and a passenger Gazelle minibus collided on the Samara–Shymkent highway near the village of Belkopa in the Aktobe Region. Preliminary findings indicate that the truck crossed into the oncoming lane.
As a result, 12 people were killed - both drivers and 10 Gazelle passengers. Five others were hospitalized.

“A special investigative group from the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been dispatched by aircraft to investigate and establish the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is under the personal supervision of the Minister of Internal Affairs. By order of the minister, comprehensive assistance will also be provided to the families of the victims, including transportation and burial of the bodies,” said MIA spokesperson Shyngys Alekeshev.

According to official information, measures have been taken to ensure a prompt investigation and completion of all necessary procedures.

It was previously reported that the Gazelle was officially engaged in passenger transportation from the Zhurgenov settlement to the regional center.

The Akimat of the Aktobe Region stated that due to the accident, traffic restrictions have been introduced for all types of vehicles on the section of the national highway RF border – Martuk – Aktobe – Karabutak – Kyzylorda – Shymkent – Taraz – Kordai – Almaty – Khorgos – PRC border (Khromtau–Karabutak section).
