Senator proposed spending over 125 billion tenge on new road

Tengrinews.kz - Member of the Senate Nauryzbai Baykadamov has proposed building a new road between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
According to him, the lack of direct road communication between the Kyzylorda region and the bordering region of Uzbekistan creates serious obstacles to the development of trade, tourism, and cultural ties.

"The construction of a new road would significantly reduce travel time between the regions' villages and would strengthen economic cooperation. Today, residents of the two regions are forced to travel 1330 kilometers. The new highway will shorten this distance by almost a thousand kilometers, and in the future will provide access to Astana, the northern and eastern regions of Kazakhstan, as well as neighboring countries," Baykadamov said in his departmental request.

In his opinion, this will not only strengthen transport links but also give a new impetus to the development of tourism.

"We propose to begin implementing the Uchkuduk-Kyzylorda highway project in the near future, while Uzbekistan has not yet mastered the communication routes through other countries. Otherwise, in the conditions of global competition, Kazakhstan may lose important strategic opportunities. The estimated cost of building the highway is 125.3 billion tenge," the senator concluded.
