Number of flights between Almaty and China will be increased
Tengrinews.kz - The number of flights between Almaty and major Chinese cities will increase.
Additional flights on the Almaty-Beijing route and a new Almaty-Chengdu route will launch in June 2025.
"Last year, more than 95,300 tourists from China visited Almaty, showing a 54 percent increase. Overall, about 2 million tourists visited Almaty in 2024, including over 600,000 foreign visitors. In 2025, we expect 2.3 million tourists, with 700,000 of them being foreigners," Akim (governor) Erbolat Dossaev said, according to the press service.
Currently, direct flights from Almaty operate to several Chinese cities:
Beijing – 53 flights per month (Air Astana – 22, China Southern Airlines – 31)Urumqi – 61 flights per month (Air Astana – 17, China Southern Airlines – 44)Xi’an – 9 flights per month (China Southern Airlines)
Hangzhou – 18 flights per month (Loong Air)
Sanya – 9 flights per month (Air Astana)
The new flights will be operated by Air China.
"Preparations are underway in cooperation with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport, and the routes will be launched after flight rights are allocated," the akimat (government administration) added.
Previously, South Korean airline Eastar Jet announced the launch of a new direct flight Incheon – Almaty, which will begin operating flights this spring.
