AI to monitor public and road safety in Astana
Tengrinews.kz - A large-scale project on public and road safety based on artificial intelligence (AI) is being implemented in Astana, according to Astana akimat (government administration).
The project is designed to last until 2030 and is being implemented in cooperation with Presight AI Ltd. The project capacity is 14000 general video surveillance cameras, 8000 integrated third-party cameras, and 1202 hardware and software systems for recording traffic violations.
As noted by the press service of the akimat, there are currently 700 hardware and software systems operating in the city, as well as 6000 cameras on linear sections and intersections, 4000 general video surveillance cameras, and 3000 third-party cameras.
"The main goal of the project is to create a digital twin of the city with the connection of more than 100 thousand general video surveillance cameras connected to a video analytics system using artificial intelligence, which will allow identifying potential threats in real time and increasing the speed of response," the report says.
As noted by the akimat, the project is fully financed by the private partner's own funds, while the participation of Kazakhstani companies will amount to 60% of the work.
