Where have the potatoes disappeared? Astana stores face a shortage
Tengrinews.kz - Astana residents complained that there are no potatoes in a number of city supermarkets, and they are expensive in local stores. Our correspondent found out where the vegetable disappeared from the shelves.
After the complaints of Astana residents, we ourselves went to the shops and noticed that in some supermarkets there are potatoes and they cost about 360 tenge. In local stores - about 400 tenge. But in Small supermarkets there were no potatoes. We contacted the Akimat (local government organization), where we were provided with a comment from the Small supermarket chain.
"The administration of the Small retail chain reports: work is underway to supply a new batch of high-quality potatoes, which will be delivered to the chain's stores in the near future. Currently, there are no potatoes in our store due to the fact that more than 60 tons of potatoes were previously rejected due to non-compliance with established quality standards," Small explained.
The Astana Social Entrepreneurial Corporation (SEC) added that contracts for the supply of more than 7000 tons of potatoes have been concluded to stabilize prices. This allows maintaining fixed prices for the product in a number of retail outlets.
"At the same time, within the framework of the turnover mechanism, the SEC conducts a weekly potato intervention in the amount of more than 200 tons," they added.
Earlier, the press service of the Akimat reported that there are currently no restrictions on the sale of potatoes in the capital, and there is no shortage of potatoes in the city.
