Tokayev received the head of Anti-Corruption Agency

Tengrinews.kz - The Head of State received the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency Askhat Zhumagali, according to a statement from Akorda.
The President heard a report on the measures taken by the Agency to combat corruption in the country.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the plans and key tasks of the Anti-Corruption Service for the current year, including the implementation of the principle of "Law and Order."
As Askhat Zhumagali reported, last year 1641 corruption crimes were registered, 68 cases of systemic corruption were established, criminal activity of 2 organized crime groups was revealed, and sentences were passed against 2 groups. 1493 people were convicted of corruption, including 229 managers of various levels. 914 people were convicted.
As part of its activities, the Agency has ensured the return of property assets and funds to the state in the amount of 1.12 trillion tenge since 2022, including 486.5 billion last year.
The Head of State was informed that during the monitoring of public procurement and targeted spending of funds, the Agency prevented irrational use in the amount of 87.7 billion tenge. Work continued to support the construction of important infrastructure and social projects. The Agency monitors 182 objects, 81 of which have been completed.
The Head of the Anti-Corruption Service told the President about the implementation of individual instructions. Thus, as part of the work to eradicate corruption in the road industry, an analysis was conducted, and a number of recommendations were made to authorized bodies. At the same time, specially created working groups continue to monitor the construction and repair of roads in the regions. Of the 258 projects monitored, 119 sections with a length of 1.8 thousand kilometers were accepted for operation, 95% of the identified defects were eliminated.
A pilot project of "coloring money" is being implemented on the "Digital Tenge" platform. This tool is used in certain areas of agriculture and the road sector, after which it is planned to scale it up with digital coverage of all stages of the movement of budget funds.
An external analysis of corruption risks in the areas of medicine, sports, and social support has also been completed.

"Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed that, based on the results of the analysis, markups on medicines have been reduced in the healthcare sector, which will have a positive effect in solving social problems and the needs of citizens. A project has been launched across the country to issue free medicines to patients via QR code, which reduces the risks of issuing fictitious prescriptions and theft of medicines, and also saves budget funds," the press service of Akorda noted.

The President was also informed about the results of international cooperation, including the signing of memorandums with the anti-corruption agencies of Azerbaijan, Russia, Hong Kong, Jordan, and Qatar.
Work continues on the implementation of the OECD and GRECO recommendations, within the framework of which two bills on the implementation of advanced international experience have been submitted to the Mazhilis.

"Following the meeting, the Head of State gave a number of instructions on the further fight against corruption in the country," the press service of Akorda noted.

Earlier, Tokayev received the president of the National Academy of Sciences Akylbek Kurishbayev.
