What time and where to watch the New Year's fireworks in Almaty

Tengrinews.kz - Details have been revealed about the time and location of the New Year's fireworks in Almaty.
The city administration's press service responded to our inquiry:

"On December 31, a fireworks display will take place in Almaty, sponsored by private contributors," the Department of Culture announced.

According to the press service, the fireworks are scheduled to begin at midnight on the night of December 31, 2024, transitioning into January 1, 2025. The event will be held at Astana Square. Additional details about the fireworks will be shared later.
Previously, it was reported that the city will feature around 300 bright installations depicting fairytale characters and festive elements, including 120 refurbished small architectural forms used last year. Additionally, 1,500 light decorations will adorn 12 streets and avenues, with 350 restored brackets from 2023. The facades of 21 significant buildings will also be illuminated with architectural lighting, and the Kok Tobe TV Tower will showcase a festive multimedia video display for residents and visitors.
Main Christmas tree
As per tradition, the main Christmas tree will be installed in Abai Square, in front of the Palace of the Republic. According to the city administration, its decorations will include bright ornamental elements, baubles, large bows, 6 kilometers of garlands, and eco-friendly holiday decorations, some made from recycled materials. The tree will stand 25 meters tall.
The lighting ceremony for the main Christmas tree will take place on December 20 at 7:00 PM. Before the lighting ceremony, starting at 6:00 PM, a grand show titled "The 8 Wonders of Almaty – Magic for the Whole Family!" will be held in front of the Palace of the Republic. The event will feature performances by Kazakh pop stars, including Roza Rymbayeva, Turar, Balzhan Bidash, Alpha Band, Dinaya, Nazym Adildina, Madi Rymbayev, Dakelot, Astra Band, and Adil & Malika Yes.
Tree lighting ceremonies across Almaty
Today at 7:00 PM, all 80 Christmas trees in Almaty will be lit. Festive events will begin at 6:00 PM in each of the city's 8 districts:

Alatau District – at the Alatau Traditional Art Theater (Nurkent microdistrict, 6).
Almaly District – at the Kazakh State Academic Youth and Children's Theater named after G. Musrepov (Abai Khan Avenue, 38).
Auezov District – at the State Academic Russian Youth Theater named after Sats (Shalyapin Street, 22).
Bostandyk District – at the Atakent Square (intersection of Timiryazev and Auezov streets).
Medeu District – at Dostyk Plaza Mall (Dostyk Avenue, 85a/1).
Nauryzbai District – at the Amphitheater Square (Shugyla microdistrict, 347).
Turksib District – at Schoolchildren’s House No. 6 (Seifullin Avenue, 13/1).
Zhetysu District – at the Arbat in Aina-Bulak microdistrict (intersection of Makataev and Zhumabayev streets).

Additionally, from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025, a New Year’s Fair will be held at Abai Square, featuring handicrafts, souvenirs, and holiday decorations.
