New rules for foreign residents in Kazakhstan: What has changed

Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan has introduced updates to the rules for issuing residence permits to foreign nationals.
According to an order by the Minister of Internal Affairs dated November 18, the list of mandatory documents required for issuing temporary and permanent residence permits to foreigners and stateless individuals has been updated.
Updated list of documents
When applying for a temporary residence permit through the State Corporation, the following will be required:

A completed application form,
A copy of an identity document (with the original for verification),A copy of medical insurance (with the original for verification, not required for citizens of the EAEU),Notarized consent from the property owner for residence if the applicant is not the owner,A certificate confirming fingerprinting.

The following additional documents may also be required:
For family reunification: Document proof of familial ties with a permanent resident of Kazakhstan.
For education: A request from a Kazakhstani educational institution.
For medical treatment: Documentation from a medical facility in Kazakhstan confirming treatment or patient care.
For missionary work: A certificate issued by the authorized body for religious activities.
For business immigration: A medical certificate (028/u form), medical insurance covering emergency care, and a document confirming no criminal record or prohibition on business activities in the applicant’s home country.
For victims of human trafficking: A request from a local executive body in accordance with approved regulations.
For foreign specialists at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC): A permit for the duration of the employment contract, not exceeding one year, with an option to extend. For AIFC investment residents, permits may be issued for up to five years upon request from the AIFC administration.
For employment:

A permit to employ foreign labor issued by a local executive body,A certificate or authorization verifying the foreign worker’s qualifications,A labor immigrant permit for work with individuals issued by a local executive body,A labor contract registered in the Single Accounting System for Employment Agreements (SASEA) or a civil contract for services,An official directive for business trips under intra-corporate transfers or agreements between legal entities,Accreditation documentation for journalists, specifying the accreditation period.
For categories of immigrants exempt from the above permits and their family members, residence permits are issued for the duration of the labor contract, up to one year, with an option to extend.

The order will take effect ten calendar days after its first official publication.
