Earthquake recorded in Karaganda region
Tengrinews.kz - An earthquake was recorded in the Karaganda region.
According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the tremors were detected by the seismic station network of the National Center for Seismic Monitoring of the MES on October 30 at 10:59 a.m. Astana time.
"The earthquake's epicenter is located in Kazakhstan, approximately 500 kilometers northwest of Almaty. Estimated intensity (in points): not felt," the report stated.
According to the Kazakhstan National Data Center, the earthquake occurred near the city of Balkhash, registering a magnitude of 4.5 and an energy class of 9.6.
Earlier, on October 2, another earthquake was recorded in the Zhetysu region.
The Minister for Emergency Situations announced the creation of the southern "Alatau" base in Almaty to provide shelter in case of a devastating earthquake.
