Kazakhstani man attempted to sell his organs
Tengrinews.kz - In Aktobe, the prosecutor's office uncovered an illegal attempt to sell human organs. A local resident was detained on suspicion of the crime.
According to the Aktobe regional prosecutor's office, during an online monitoring operation, authorities received information about a possible illegal deal involving a Kazakhstani attempting to sell his internal organs.
"On September 25, within the framework of operational-search measures initiated by the prosecutor's office, officers of the Department of Combating Organized Crime detained citizen E., who intended to carry out an illegal transaction for the sale of his internal organs for a total sum of 9 million tenge. A pre-trial investigation has been launched under part 1 of article 116 of the Criminal Code, 'Coercion to extraction or illegal extraction of human organs and tissues,'" the statement said.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed details of 15 cases initiated this year concerning the sale of donor organs. The department stated that these involved organs from living individuals. According to the ministry, in all cases, the initiators of the organ sales were either the citizens themselves or intermediaries searching for those willing to voluntarily sell or buy an organ.
