92-year-old mother sues her children for alimony in Aktobe
Tengrinews.kz - A civil case involving a 92-year-old Kazakh woman has been heard in Aktobe, where she is suing eight of her children for alimony.
The mother of nine filed the lawsuit, citing her status as a "heroic mother" and her struggles with multiple chronic illnesses. She explained that her youngest daughter, who lives with her and provides some financial support, is not among the defendants. The elderly woman is seeking alimony from her other eight children.
According to court documents, the defendants failed to provide sufficient evidence that they contribute equally to their mother's care. The youngest daughter presented evidence, including recordings, demonstrating her responsibility for her elderly mother.
During the proceedings, the plaintiff stated that her children had not visited her for approximately six years, supporting her claim. The court dismissed the defendants' argument that the youngest daughter was preventing them from visiting, as no evidence was provided.
The court acknowledged the plaintiff's right to receive alimony but noted that four of the defendants had reached retirement age and were considered unable to pay. Ultimately, the court ordered the other four defendants to pay alimony equivalent to seven times the monthly calculation indicator, which amounted to 25,844 tenge each.
The court's decision is not yet legally binding.
