New restrictions for public servants take effect in Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz - Amendments concerning gambling and lottery activities have officially come into effect in Kazakhstan, introducing a series of restrictions for civil servants.
The new regulations expand the list of individuals prohibited from participating in gambling activities or placing bets. In addition to those listed in the Unified Register of Debtors, the restrictions now apply to individuals holding high-level government positions, those authorized to perform state functions, and others in similar roles.
Civil servants, military personnel, employees of special and law enforcement agencies, as well as heads of budgetary organizations, are now forbidden from participating in gambling and betting activities. Violating these restrictions may lead to their dismissal.
These changes follow the July 8 signing of the law by the President of Kazakhstan, titled "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Gambling Business, Lottery Activities, Health Protection, State Labor Inspection, State Control, and Elimination of Excessive Legislative Regulation."
The new rules aim to promote ethical conduct among public officials and maintain trust in state institutions.
