Kazakhstan deputies propose to return the time zone
Tengrinews.kz - Members of the Mazhilis from the Amanat party have made a statement regarding the time zone change in Kazakhstan.
Today, under the chairmanship of Mazhilis Speaker Yerlan Koshanov, an extended meeting of the Amanat party faction was held. Following this, deputies Maksat Tolykbayev, Rinat Zaitov, Nurtay Sabilyanov, Lukbek Tumashinov, and Samat Nurtaza recorded a video address to the citizens of Kazakhstan, proposing to return to the previous time zone in the country.
"We want to state that, based on numerous complaints from citizens, particularly from Eastern Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, Abai, and Zhetysu regions, there is a need to return to the previous time zone. The current time zone is inconvenient for Eastern Kazakhstan, where dawn occurs at 2:30 AM, and it gets dark early. Students find it difficult to return home during the second and third shifts, especially in rural areas without street lighting," said Deputy Maksat Tolykbayev.
According to the deputy, the Amanat party will hold special hearings at a plenary session of Parliament.
"Due to the vast territory of the country, the issue of changing the time zone should have been studied in advance, considering the geographical features. It is important to account for the impact on health and energy consumption. Today, we held a faction meeting and plan to organize a gathering with the participation of the government, scientists, and experts. We will discuss your suggestions and try to influence the government's final decision," concluded the Majilis member.
Earlier, the opinion of citizens was not considered when changing the time. This was stated by Mazhilis deputy Lukbek Tumashinov.
