The Mumbai Police have transferred the FIR lodged against the promoters of Mahadev book app, and Dabur Group Chairman Mohit Burman and Director Gaurav Burman, to the Crime Branch Cell. Given the technological aspects of the case, the investigation will be aided by the Mumbai Crime Branch Cyber Cell. The FIR was lodged against 32 people, including Mohit and Gaurav Burman, Chandrakar, Uppal and several other bookies.

Indiatoday.in has accessed the FIR copy and in it, an address was mentioned in the name of Mohit Burman in Fort Mumbai where one of his investment company office is located, as per the Registrar of Companies.

Indiatoday.in had exclusively reported earlier about the links of Chandrakar and Uppal with the Dawood Ibrahim gang, particularly Dawood’s brother Mushtaqueen, who is also their business partner. The FIR also mentioned the match-fixing racket run by Chandrakar, Mushtaqeen, Uppal and several others. The FIR alleged that the main bookies for match-fixing in the Indian cricket leagues are accused Chander Agarwal and Dinesh Khambat, a London resident. They allegedly facilitated the wrongful activity through various websites and apps. A person named Amit Sharma assists them in such activities.

According to the FIR, Mohit Burman and Gaurav Burman have equity stakes in one team of the cricket league. For operating in the player’s book website portal, they have partnered with the other accused, it said.

Further investigation into the alleged participation in match-fixing in cricket leagues by Mohit and Gaurav Burman and other accused will be done. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently received and recorded statements from Shubham Soni, an accused in the Mahadev betting app case, stating that app promoters provided over Rs 508 crore to Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Additionally, the ED’s probe revealed that some police officials and politicians were allegedly assisting the Mahadev book app promoters through illicit means, including accepting hawala network bribes. The probe agency had filed a chargesheet in the case which named fourteen people, including Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, along with other accused Vikas Chhapariya, Chandrabhushan Verma, Satish Chandrakar, Anil Dammani, Sunil Dammani, Vishal Ahuja and Dheeraj Ahuja. Several Bollywood actors, including Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Leone, who promoted the illegal betting app, are also under ED radar.
