US Vice-President Harris says ‘whole family loves F1, Hamilton’

0

Who knew? United States presidential candidate and current VP Kamala Harris is not just about politics – she’s also a massive Formula 1 fan!

But not just any fan; the 59-year-old Democrat is a die-hard supporter of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

In a lively chat with Howard Stern on Sirius XM, Harris revealed her passion for the sport, making it clear that F1 fever has taken hold of her household.

“It’s so good—we love it, our whole family does,” she said, with the kind of enthusiasm you'd expect from someone who spends Sundays glued to the screen, watching fast cars zoom around the globe.

When Stern, ever the skeptic, tried to nudge her by asking if this was just part of her campaign strategy, Harris shot that down quicker than an F1 pit stop.

“Oh, god no! I haven’t been able to watch it a lot recently, because I am campaigning,” she confessed. “Also, depending on where they are driving, the time of day.” We've all been there, right?

Harris isn’t the first US politician to pick a side in Formula 1 this year.

Last May at the Miami Grand Prix, former President Donald Trump popped up in the McLaren garage on race day – much to the chagrin of a few of team papaya's fans – to back Lando Norris, who went on to snag his first-ever F1 win that weekend.

When asked by Stern who her favorite driver was, Harris didn’t even pause: “Lewis Hamilton, of course.”

America’s VP even threw in a little insider gossip, saying, “He’s leaving Mercedes” before urging Stern to give F1 a try.

“You should see it, you might get hooked, it’s good stuff.” Who would’ve thought?

While F1’s popularity in the US has exploded thanks to Netflix’s Drive to Survive series, this may be the first time a sitting Vice President has publicly declared their loyalty to the grid.

As the Austin Grand Prix looms, you’ve got to wonder: Will Harris make an appearance at the Circuit of the Americas to cheer on her favorite driver, Lewis Hamilton?

If so, let’s hope she brings some of that campaign trail energy to the track!
