Swiss fintech sector thrives with record number of companies

The Swiss fintech sector continued to grow last year. Never before have there been so many active companies. Growth was particularly strong among companies focussing on sustainability. However, there are also signs of a cooling trend. At the end of 2023, there were 483 fintech companies in Switzerland - more than ever before. According to the iinTech study published by Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts on Thursday, this is around 11 % than in the previous year. This means that the sector has tripled in size since 2015. Liechtenstein was also included in the study for the first time: 22 FinTech companies are based in the principality. Focus on sustainability Growth was particularly strong last year among fintech companies with a strategic focus on sustainability (23%).
