Why I Bought Forza Horizon 4 Despite Not Owning an Xbox or Gaming PC
Even though I don’t own an Xbox Series X|S or a gaming PC, I recently found myself buying Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition. While the 80% discount definitely caught my eye, it wasn’t the primary reason for my purchase. Instead, I grabbed the game because it will soon be delisted from digital storefronts—specifically, on December 15, 2024. After that date, it will no longer be available for purchase through digital platforms, making now the last chance to get it before it vanishes.
I’ve had my eye on Forza Horizon 4 for some time, especially because of its UK-based setting, which is particularly appealing as I live in Nottingham, England. The game also includes a LEGO-themed DLC, which sounds like an absolute blast. But despite my interest, I’ve never fully played the game because I didn’t own an Xbox or a gaming PC. Luckily, Xbox Cloud Gaming has allowed me to stream the game to my Samsung TV, but that service is also going away soon, further motivating my purchase.
Forza Horizon 4 originally launched in 2018, but since then, it has received substantial updates, including enhancements for the Xbox Series X and new downloadable content (DLC). The game features expansions like a LEGO Speed Champions experience and a Hot Wheels DLC pack, both of which add a lot of fun to the game. The added content, combined with the game’s existing acclaim, made me realize that now is the perfect time to buy it before it's no longer available.
Although I can currently enjoy the game through cloud streaming, I’m looking forward to eventually playing Forza Horizon 4 at its best, which will be on an Xbox Series X or a gaming PC. Given that the game has received rave reviews, including a glowing endorsement from Richard Devine, calling it a "masterpiece," getting it for under $20 feels like an incredible value.
