President approves Gov. Haley's request for federal disaster assistance

WEST COLUMBIA — President Barack Obama issued a major disaster declaration for the tri-county area and 10 other counties Tuesday that will provide financial assistance to local governments and state agencies as they dig out of Hurricane Matthew.
