Tokayev proposes uniting BRICS countries in AI

Tengrinews.kz – Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed launching a BRICS Plus partnership in the field of artificial intelligence. The President made the statement during his speech at the BRICS Plus Summit, citing Akorda.
The Head of State focused on the role of artificial intelligence, which is already transforming economies, societies and the global balance of power.

“By combining the technological capabilities of leading developing economies with their scale, BRICS is capable of opening up new opportunities for innovation, investment and sustainable growth. Kazakhstan considers artificial intelligence a strategic priority and is ready to use its advanced computing infrastructure, as well as national and UN digital centers, to expand effective cooperation in the BRICS Plus format. As a concrete step, I propose launching a BRICS Plus partnership in artificial intelligence to unite national AI centers, provide access to laboratories and research projects, and develop multilingual solutions,” the President emphasized.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also stressed that sustainability requires more than technological progress.

“I would like to address the issue of water resources, which is of fundamental importance to all of us. Globally, water resource management remains fragmented. In this regard, we have proposed creating an International Water Organization as a specialized UN agency to ensure greater coherence of global efforts and strengthen interstate coordination. I invite BRICS member states and partners to join the international consultations initiated by our country,” the Head of State noted.

At the end of his speech, the Head of State said that multipolarity without effective multilateralism would inevitably make the “Great Fragmentation” even more dangerous for humanity. Therefore, in his opinion, Kazakhstan stands for multipolarity based on sovereign equality, a balance of interests and shared responsibility.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed confidence that the summit in New Delhi would help advance this vision through practical cooperation and joint progress.
