Tokayev urged Kazakhstanis to participate in the elections
Tengrinews.kz — Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called on the people of Kazakhstan to participate in the election of Kurultai deputies, describing it as the ultimate expression of the popular will. He made the statement during a national address.
In his address, the Head of State noted that Kazakhstan's future depends on the informed choices of millions of its citizens.
"Participation in elections is the ultimate act of the people's will, an expression of civic responsibility and a shared commitment to the fate of the Fatherland. Millions of people around the world are fighting for their right to vote," the President noted.
The President quoted a popular proverb: "Kelisip pishken ton kelte bolmas"—"A decision made collectively is the wisest"—and urged all citizens to take part in the elections.
"I call on all citizens, especially the youth, to participate in the elections and contribute to the future successful development of Kazakhstan. I am convinced that your vote will help strengthen our sacred Fatherland! I wish all my compatriots good health and well-being," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added.

The upcoming August 23 elections to the Kurultai will open a new chapter in Kazakhstan’s political system.
These are the first elections since the new Constitution came into force on July 1, ending the term of the bicameral Parliament — the Mazhilis and the Senate. Competing for 145 seats in the new unicameral body will be seven political parties.
The President previously noted that the Kurultai elections would be a landmark event in the life of the country. He emphasized that Kazakhstan has embarked on a path of comprehensive modernization, which is reflected in fundamental changes across all spheres of public life.
