The C5+1 format (five Central Asian countries + the United States) is a dialogue platform involving Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the U.S., launched in 2015. It focuses on economic cooperation, security, environmental issues, and sustainable development, without emphasizing geopolitics. Summits are held every one to two years, alternating between in-person meetings of leaders and ministerial sessions.
Earlier, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau visited Kazakhstan. They first arrived in Almaty and later met with President Tokayev in Astana.
During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for strengthening the Kazakhstan–U.S. enhanced strategic partnership in the context of the upcoming C5+1 Summit in Washington.
President Tokayev expressed confidence that the forthcoming high-level meeting would be productive in defining key priorities for long-term cooperation, adding that Kazakhstan seeks to give new momentum to trade, economic, and investment ties with the United States.
