Kazhydromet warns residents of Almaty and 4 other cities

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has issued a warning for residents of Almaty and several other cities in Kazakhstan.

"On July 14, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Karaganda, Temirtau, Uralsk, Aktobe, and Almaty," the statement said.

Unfavorable meteorological conditions refer to a combination of short-term weather factors (calm winds, light breezes, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the lower layer of the atmosphere.
Inversion is a weather phenomenon in which warm air traps cooler air near the ground. Normally, warm air near the surface rises and disperses pollutants. However, during an inversion, the cold air becomes “locked” below the warm layer, keeping exhaust fumes, dust, and smoke close to the ground. As a result, pollution accumulates near the surface, especially in urban areas.
