Heatwave and heavy rains: Cyclone sweeps into Kazakhstan

Cyclone to bring thunderstorms, downpours, and hail
An active cyclone and associated atmospheric fronts will dominate weather patterns across much of the country in the coming days. Forecasters warn of rain and thunderstorms, with heavy downpours and possible hail expected in the west, northwest, north, central regions, and mountainous areas of the southeast.
Strong winds and dust storms
Amid the unstable weather, strong wind gusts are expected in several regions. In the southern parts of the country, dust storms are possible, potentially affecting transportation and public health.
What about temperatures?
No significant drop or spike in temperatures is expected. Daytime highs will range as follows:

West, northwest, and north: +18 to +30°C
Central regions: +20 to +33°C
East: up to +35°C in some areas
South and southeast: mostly dry and extremely hot, with temperatures reaching +35 to +40°C

Earlier, Kazhydromet meteorologists released the weather forecast for June 2025 in Kazakhstan. Unstable conditions are expected throughout the month, alternating between cool and hot spells, accompanied by rain (sometimes heavy), thunderstorms, hail, and squally winds. On some days, dust storms are also possible.
