FlyArystan caught illegally inflating ticket prices
Tengrinews.kz - The Agency for Protection and Development of Competition (APDC) has identified signs of abuse of dominant market position by the airline FlyArystan.
An APDC analysis found that ticket prices were increased through hidden surcharges that were automatically added at various stages of booking.
"In particular, the airline raised ticket prices by charging a transaction fee during ticket sales. This practice, known as drip pricing, is completely banned under European law. We identified these violations and issued a notice to the airline to cease breaching antitrust regulations, which was subsequently complied with," said agency chairman Marat Omarov during a board meeting.
Currently, the APDC is conducting an antitrust review of the domestic air travel market.
