Warmer days ahead: Almaty to see temperatures rise up to 9°C

Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan's national weather service, Kazhydromet, has released a three-day weather forecast for Almaty from February 20 to 22, predicting a gradual rise in temperatures.

Almaty weather forecast

On February 20, the city will experience partly cloudy skies with no precipitation. Fog is expected at night and in the morning, with icy road conditions. Wind speeds will range from 0 to 5 meters per second. Temperatures will drop to -4°C to -6°C at night, while daytime temperatures will reach 4°C to 6°C.

On February 21, similar conditions will persist with partly cloudy skies and no precipitation. Fog is expected at night, and southeastern winds will blow at speeds of 2 to 7 meters per second. Temperatures will range from -3°C to -5°C at night and 5°C to 7°C during the day.

By February 22, temperatures will further rise, reaching 7°C to 9°C in the daytime. The night will still be cold at -1°C to -3°C. The weather will remain partly cloudy with no precipitation, and southwestern winds will blow at 2 to 7 meters per second.

Astana weather forecast

Meanwhile, the capital, Astana, will see a different trend, with cold temperatures and occasional snowfall.

On February 20, the city will experience partly cloudy skies, light snow, and fog. Northeastern and eastern winds will range from 3 to 8 meters per second, with temperatures dropping to -15°C to -17°C at night and reaching -4°C to -6°C in the daytime.

On February 21, light snow will continue, with temperatures at -12°C to -14°C at night and -3°C to -5°C during the day. Winds will intensify slightly, reaching 5 to 10 meters per second from the northeast.

By February 22, the weather will remain cold, with occasional snow and drifting snow. Winds will be stronger, reaching 9 to 14 meters per second during the day. Temperatures will be between -10°C and -12°C at night and -3°C to -5°C in the daytime.

Earlier, meteorologists noted a stark contrast in weather conditions across Kazakhstan, with northern regions remaining cold and largely dry, while southern areas are set to experience warmer temperatures, reaching up to 10°C to 15°C during the day.
