One of Astana's districts left without power
Tengrinews.kz - The residential area of Prigorodny in Astana was left without electricity. Residents of the district complained about the lack of heat and power.
Readers reached out to Tengrinews.kz, reporting that there was no heat or light throughout the entire Prigorodny area.
The press service of "Astana – Regional Electric Grid Company" explained that on February 18 at 11:25 AM, an emergency shutdown occurred in the 10 kV cell at the "Airport" substation, which supplies RP-205.
"Emergency response teams are making the necessary switchovers. Power will be restored soon via the backup line. The cause is being investigated," the statement said.
It was noted that RP-205 supplies electricity to some consumers in the Prigorodny residential area: six residential complexes and some private houses.
A resident of Prigorodny, Asem, reported that her private home lost power at 10:30 AM. After the power outage, heating also stopped.
"As soon as the pressure started changing. When there's no supply from the boiler room, our pressure immediately increases, which creates a risk for the pipes. We raised the alarm, all the neighbors. It turned out the boiler room was also turned off. (...) Now there's no light or heat. Power outages happen periodically, about every two months, due to emergency shutdowns at this RP-205 cell," the woman explained.
According to Asem, more and more new houses are being built in the residential area, while the existing infrastructure cannot handle the increased load.
At 12:31 PM, "Astana – Regional Electric Grid Company" reported that power was restored in Prigorodny.
Previously, several districts in Almaty were left without heat due to a burst pipeline, which was put into operation in 1984.
