Kazhydromet issued warning for Almaty and seven other cities
Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet has issued a warning for residents of Almaty and several other cities across the country.
"On February 17, 2025, adverse meteorological conditions contributing to air pollution are expected in the cities of Pavlodar, Karaganda, Balkhash, Temirtau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Ridder, and Almaty," the statement reads.
Adverse meteorological conditions refer to weather phenomena that promote the accumulation of harmful substances in the air. These typically include calm weather, light winds, fog, or temperature inversions, which trap pollutants near the ground and worsen air quality.
Earlier, storm warnings were issued across Kazakhstan due to fog, blizzards, and strong winds.
