Kazhydromet issues warning for Almaty and five other cities
Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet has issued a warning for residents of Almaty and several other cities across different regions of the country.
"On February 11, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions contributing to air pollution are expected in the cities of Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Temirtau, Aktobe, and Almaty," the statement reads.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions occur when short-term weather factors—such as calm winds, light breezes, fog, and temperature inversions—contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the lower layers of the atmosphere.
Previously, a. thick layer of smog engulfed Kazakhstan’s capital, significantly reducing visibility. Kazhydromet has provided an explanation for the phenomenon.
