Government officials will be trained in AI tools

0

Tengrinews.kz - The government has discussed the integration of new digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) into daily operations. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov issued a series of directives following a review of local AI developments.
The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, in collaboration with regional authorities, has been tasked with organizing training for government employees in AI tools over the next year.

"The Ministry of Science and Higher Education is instructed to develop educational programs and courses on artificial intelligence. Public awareness of AI advancements remains low, and many digital services are too complex for the average citizen. They need to be simplified. I urge the Ministry of Digital Development, along with relevant ministries, to improve existing digital solutions and educate the public on their use," Bektenov stated.

He emphasized the need for unified approaches to data accessibility within government information systems.

"I instruct the Ministry of Digital Development, in cooperation with other government bodies and regional authorities, to regulate the collection, storage, and protection of data. Ensuring the relevance, timeliness, and accuracy of data is essential," he added.

Bektenov also directed support for enterprises involved in AI development.

"The Ministry of Digital Development, together with stakeholders, must develop specific measures to support companies implementing and advancing digital technologies and AI," he said.

The prime minister concluded by stressing the importance of transparency and safety in AI usage.

"Legislative measures and regulations must be developed to govern AI use, including data protection, cybersecurity, accountability for AI-driven decisions, and ethical standards," Bektenov noted.

Previously, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to accelerate the development and adoption of AI in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the need to make it accessible to every citizen.
