Animals, plants, and phones: Goods that cannot be refunded in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz - What items cannot be returned to stores in Kazakhstan after purchase? Deputy Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee of the Ministry of Trade and Integration, Serik Kusainov, clarified this during a briefing.
According to the law, most non-food items can be returned to a store within 14 days if they remain unused and in good condition.

"Non-returnable items include mobile phones, medications, medical products, plants, animals, underwear, and items sold by the meter, such as fabrics," explained Serik Kusainov during a Central Communications Service briefing.

If a non-food product is of good quality and does not fall under this list, it can be returned. Buyers must ensure all tags, labels, receipts, and packaging are intact to exercise this right.
In cases where a seller refuses to issue a refund for a returnable product, consumers have options to resolve the issue. Initially, they should attempt to negotiate directly with the seller. If this proves unsuccessful, assistance can be sought from the regional department of the Consumer Protection Committee.
Earlier, the Consumer Protection Committee of the Ministry of Trade and Integration addressed questions regarding the proposed cancellation of the 10 percent service fee in Kazakhstan’s catering establishments.
