Deputy's Day? Mazhilisman about new holidays in Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan needs such national holidays as Family Day, Mother's Day, Children's Day. This opinion was expressed by the deputy of the Mazhilis Bakytzhan Bazarbek.
On the sidelines of the Mazhilis, Bazarbek was asked whether Kazakhstan needs a holiday like Deputy's Day. The Mazhilis member replied that he did not see the need for it and suggested establishing other holiday dates.
"Let's instead single out Mother's Day, Children's Day, Family Day. These are the best, good holidays. We can single out such days separately and make them state holidays. But Deputy's Day, I do not think that it should be singled out and that there is such a need," said Bakytzhan Bazarbek.
The deputy added that he himself thinks soberly and sees strengths and weaknesses in every initiative. According to him, holiday dates should be "treated carefully." All because of the risks of corruption.
"I am a critic, I am a supporter of saving budget funds, a supporter of a tough fight against corruption. I see that sometimes some holidays are needed not just to attract attention to this profession. Maybe these are even corruption factors, because the introduction of a specific date as a holiday is still further measures to ensure that on these days some attention of the state is carried out, the media draw attention to this date, bonuses, allocation of budget funds," the Mazhilis member said.
According to him, it is not customary in the Mazhilis to give each other gifts in honor of holidays. But sometimes deputies receive souvenirs from other organizations.
"There are some international events, for example, the Parliamentary Assembly... There may be some souvenirs. We are now accepting within the framework of the bill on combating corruption - any gifts that are accepted in the implementation of state functions, we officially hand them over to the state," Bazarbek said.
