Swan infected with bird flu in central Switzerland
Switzerland has reported its first bird flu case of the season. A swan found dead at the mouth of the River Reuss, near Altdorf, in central Switzerland tested positive for the H5N1 virus. In response, canton Uri has established a control and surveillance zone. The control zone, which includes the Reuss delta within a one-kilometre radius, was announced by the cantonal laboratory on Wednesday. The observation zone extends over three kilometres. The bird flu case was detected on Monday.
