Inspection conducted after school in Kazakhstan rolls out red carpet for healer
Tengrinews.kz - Authorities in the Zhambyl Region of Kazakhstan launched a special inspection at a school in the village of Terenozek following a controversial event where a healer was welcomed with elaborate ceremonies.
In Terenozek, Zhambyl Region, a special inspection was carried out at the local school after a video surfaced showing a lavish welcome for Gulzara Kopbaeva, a healer who arrived dressed as Queen Tomyris.
The video revealed that Kopbaeva, who had previously attended the school, was greeted as a star, with students carrying the train of her gown and roses being thrown at her feet. The event was purportedly organized to celebrate Kopbaeva's offer of charitable assistance to 100 students from low-income families. However, it was later reported that the promised aid did not materialize. Instead of providing meaningful aid, it is alleged that she donated torn clothing, broken toys, and malfunctioning computers to the school and its students.
"The school administration did not inform local authorities about the event," said a statement from the Zhambyl Region Education Department. "An investigation is underway to address these issues and determine appropriate measures."
The inspection was initiated by the Zhambyl Region's Children's Rights Commissioner and the Department of Quality Assurance in Education. The inspection team also included representatives from the education, information, and public development departments.

Following the review, it was announced that the deputy akim of Turar Ryskulov District, A. Terlikbaev, and the principal of school, E. Zakimbayeva, had resigned voluntarily. Additionally, disciplinary actions were taken against the district's internal policy department head and the akim of Terenozek village, with formal reprimands issued.
