Kazakhstan to launch a new national project
Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the adoption of a new national project.
“We need to address the urgent infrastructure issues, primarily in the energy sector and utilities. The standard loan conditions for constructing new generation facilities are not acceptable. Therefore, the government needs to find ways to ensure affordable long-term financing from financial institutions,” the President said.
As Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted, the state will need to implement clear long-term planning of tariff policies. This is an essential condition for attracting 'long-term money' to the sector. At the same time, unjustified tariff increases for consumers must be avoided.
“A project to modernize the energy and utilities sectors needs to be approved by the end of the year. It is important to cultivate a culture of resource conservation among people. Starting next year, rules will be introduced: the more you consume, the more you pay. However, consumers must not be left defenseless against private monopolistic companies,” the Head of State added.
The President emphasized that the concept of socially significant services should be introduced into legislation and regulated similarly to the processes of providing public services.
On September 2, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered his annual Address to the Nation during a joint session of the Parliament chambers. The President's speech focused on the political and socio-economic development prospects of Kazakhstan for the upcoming period.
