Story of 12-year-old girl who gave birth continues

Tengrinews.kz - A 12-year-old girl who gave birth in Pavlodar region will soon celebrate a housewarming party. Together with her family and newborn daughter, the schoolgirl will live in a new house in the suburbs of Pavlodar.
According to Saule Shakenova, the regional children’s ombudsman, the local administration provided the rental housing, while furniture, appliances, and other necessities were funded by a local deputy and his business friends.

"I am a father of many children and also moved from Mongolia like this family, so I could not leave them without help. The juvenile commission discussed the fate of the young mother and her daughter. To prevent anything bad from happening, my friends and I decided to help," said Deputy Asylbek Tuganbai.

The family was also given livestock and a dog. A week ago, the girl's family moved into their new home.

“We will continue to assist them until their documents are sorted out, they obtain citizenship, and get back on their feet. The temporary housing they lived in was old but clean, the parents are non-drinkers, and they care for their children. The father worked seasonally as a boiler operator in a school for 80,000 tenge, which is challenging to support five children on. The local administration has promised to help him find permanent employment. I’m confident the family will be okay,” Tugambay said.

The parents of the schoolgirl asked the local deputy to name the newborn.

“I named her Tomiris, after the victorious Saka queen. The girl was born with difficulties, but all problems can be resolved. I hope our Tomiris will be a winner in life too. She feels like a granddaughter to me,” he added with a smile.

As it turned out, the little mother together with the baby are still in the regional perinatal centre and will stay there for about a month more.

“Both girls are in satisfactory condition. The newborn is on formula feeding as the young mother will resume her schooling from September 1. Her psychological and emotional state is under constant monitoring,” said the Pavlodar regional children’s ombudsman.

After discharge, the family will be under the care of a pediatrician, and the baby will receive formula.
The 12-year-old girl lived in dire conditions before giving birth, with no running water in the temporary housing.
The girl became pregnant after a rape incident. She will turn 13 on August 16.
An investigation into the rape is ongoing, with a 17-year-old relative suspected. He was detained in April and is reportedly in a psychiatric hospital.
