Holiday season's best gifts are made of memories

A handful of outdoor-related items decorate my desk at home — a collection of family photos from fishing or boating outings, a whale vertebra I found on a nearby beach, a large shark tooth, a photo of a whale I took just a few miles outside of Charleston Harbor —­ but two stand above the rest.
