Iran launches drones at Saudi Arabia, Kuwait as strikes hit Iranian cities
Iran launched drones toward Saudi Arabia and Kuwait early Tuesday, as regional tensions escalated following overnight airstrikes across several Iranian cities.
Saudi Arabia’s defense ministry said its forces intercepted at least four drones, while Kuwait’s National Guard reported shooting down six drones in the north and south of the country.
The drone launches came hours after airstrikes targeted areas in Tehran, Karaj, and several central and southern cities in Iran, according to local sources and Iranian media.
Witnesses reported loud explosions across eastern and western parts of Tehran, and Mehrabad Airport was again among the locations reportedly struck.
Iranian outlets said several military-linked facilities, including Imam Hussein University and the National Defense University, were targeted.
Explosions were also reported overnight in Qom, Isfahan, Shahriar, Karaj, and Fardis, while power outages were reported in some areas of Tehran and Karaj.
Residents also reported blasts in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm Island, while the rights group Hal Vash said areas in Saravan were also struck.
The developments highlight the growing regional dimension of the conflict, with attacks and counterattacks now involving several countries across the Middle East.
