BBC Radio 3 and Proms Controller Sam Jackson has joined the board of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation.

Founded in 2008 by concert pianist Lang Lang, the Lang Lang International Music Foundation works to support young musicians and improve access to music education. Its initiatives include Keys of Inspiration, Music Heals and the Young Scholars Program.

Sam brings more than 20 years of experience across broadcasting and the recorded music industry. In his current BBC role he oversees strategy for classical music across the corporation, including BBC Radio 3 and the BBC Proms.

Before joining the BBC, Sam served as Executive Vice-President of Global Classics and Jazz at Universal Music Group, working with a range of classical and jazz artists.

Lang Lang said: “We are delighted to welcome Sam Jackson to our Board. His passion for classical music and his dedication to opening it up to wider audiences reflect everything the Foundation stands for.”

Sam said: “I’m honoured to join the Board of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. Early exposure to music can transform lives and open doors to extraordinary opportunities.”
